i promised someone awhile back that i would go looking for these numbers and forgot... the federal poverty line, for one person, is $8,980. if you're curious, you can find out more at http://aspe.hhs.gov/poverty/03poverty.htm. that, incidently, is 24.6 hours a week at the Washington minimum wage of 7.01. most social assistance programs qualify off of a percentage that is greater a 100 of that (for example, housing for which you qualify at 150% of the federal poverty line for one person.)
