editor's note:
for the record, this is not aimed at anyone. it's something i've been curious about for awhile.

i'm starting to think this is more a planner vs non-planner issue, and most of the planners i know happen to be women. any thoughts?
me: so, is it normal, even within the confines of a male-female friendship, not just relationships, but friendships as well, for the woman to do the majority of the calling, the plan making, and general putting forth of effort?
sample male friend (not to be named, so as not to incriminate the innocent): yea. and i'm just as guilty as everyone else.
me: but WHY? do you just not think about it?
male: pretty much. if you're calling all the time, then we don't think to call you.
me: but if i get tired of it and decide not to call whoever for a week, they still don't.
male: oh, that's because if you don't call us for a week, you must not want to talk to us, so we won't call you.
good grief... is this really the way that it works?
(and people wonder why people bewilder me...)
(i swear, i'm going to skip the sociology degree and go live on a desert island somewhere. i think i might even skip the internet drop.)
