you know it's a quiet day in the office...

when all you're hearing is blips in stereo from people sending each other messages on MSNIM.

and, for that matter, when you have five people in the same room messaging each other...

teehee. been there, done that too.

heh, when i was working as a junior sysadmin at state, i had to share a basement storage room/office with a guy that i had a huge crush on, that i couldn't bring myself to talk to half the time. IM'ing was my friend...

yea, it was pretty much like AJ and miranda. i was AJ - tongue tied and shy. =]

i halfassedly asked him out a couple times, but i was also usually dating people off and on the whole time, so i never had a good chance to flat out ask him out. (not that that didn't stop me from asking out other guys during, um, off-seasons. i had rotten luck with them too. but at least i tried.) after i left NC i found out that he'd been fully aware of the crush (why are these things always more transparent then we'd like to think? =]) but every time he was of a mind to do something about it, i was dating someone.

gah, i hate my life sometimes. =)

i tend to end up with crushes on people from work (go figure, since up until now i've spent most of my waking - and some non-waking) hours at one job on the other. having crushes on coworkers should be qualified as dangerous...

there was the lovely incident where i was running follow spot at the theater where i worked, and needed both hands to run the spot, and had to keep my headset turned on all the time so i could talk to the other techs... the joyce.crush of the moment was downstairs on deck and came out on stage with his hair down, the first time i'd seen it down. i promptly, and loudly, said "hot damn" into my headset. luckily, since he was on stage, he didn't have his on... it took me awhile to live that one down.

i'm going to quit telling stories now before i manage to pull out the really embarassing ones. =]

My Vigilante and I carry on a weird hybrid form of communication mnay nights. We sit at computers maybe 25 feet apart, and talk through a combination of speech and /tells in Everquest. As soon as I can manage a handshake we'll communicate at nothing but a nice deliberate 2400 baud, and annoy everyone around us. =)

Heehee... reminds me of the days my ex and I would sit in the same room, at desks facing each other, and spend hours communicating solely via IRC and meaningful (or meaningless) looks.
