It's getting on the end of the semester, and I just about have two brain cells to rub together. Sigh.

However, I never posted about March's new recipe: larb. It was tasty. We did it with turkey instead of pork. Very rich, very good, fairly easy. I liked it, Jeff liked it, Val didn't comment, so that's a general win. I also didn't bother with the rice powder, and so we'll have to do that next time.

Bonus new thing for March: I have been making my homemade yogurt in the crockpot for the last couple of years, and this has worked 90% of the time or so. The rest of the time, it fails to set up. This happened last weekend. All wasn't totally lost - I turned the milk into ricotta, which got used on April's new recipe, polenta pizza1 and lasagne - but when you come downstairs in the morning expecting yogurt and getting glop, it's disappointing.

So, I remembered something gorski had said one time about making yogurt in a thermos, poked around the internet, and sure enough, found directions. And it works a treat. One cup of milk needs one tablespoon of starter (I skipped the powdered milk, but I don't mind slightly runny yogurt) and it sets up in about 6 hours in a thermos (even without the towel wrapping) (but more time doesn't hurt). I can start yogurt in the morning and have it when I get home, if I want, and this is a heck of a lot less fiddly than the crockpot method. Win. :)

1. Well, kinda new. Pizza is hardly a rarity around here, but the polenta crust was good. I do want to do something totally new in April, though.
