teevee for kittens

So, our neighbor is out mowing her lawn (we have a neighbor, it's been confirmed. Sometimes, we wonder) and Copper and Marty and sitting in the office window, staring out at the neighbor, their little heads slowly turning back and forth as she moves up and down the lawn. Verily, I am amused.

(no subject)

One of the wonderful things about being home during the day is that I get to make lunch, instead of having to pack something to take somewhere with me. I just had a spinach salad with a hard boiled egg and some cheese and ranch and mushrooms and tomatoes and freshly made croutons, and it was really, really good.

This pseudo-housewife thing is... odd. I get up in the morning and make breakfast and pack Jeff's lunch (I have the time in the mornings, since I don't have to go anywhere, so I don't mind doing it), and send him off to work, and do whatever I do through the day (which needs to start including thesis stuff, this week, and some serious housework) and then he comes home at night. It's not our normal dynamic, and so while it's nice, it still feels a little bit weird.

I have work lined up for June, and if some more work turns up, great, and if not, I have more than enough money in savings to borrow out of it a bit and then put it back in the fall, and so I'm not stressing about the work thing. I'm a lucky girl.

[eta]: Duke Power has the best sense of timing. I'd forgotten that we paid a deposit for our power service a year ago, and that after a year, these things get refunded. So we have a $0 bill for this month, and enough credit to cover next month, if not most of the month after. I habitually overbudget bills in Quicken, so this is like finding $180 in my pocket. :) Woooooot.
