This is why we proofread excessively: I've a habit, when I'm drafting up a paper, of putting in things like [flesh this out] or [insert quote here]. With my luck, I'll miss an instance of that in my thesis. Usually, I highlight these things when I write them, so I can't miss them, but not tonight, which is why I'm glad I'd started reading through my paper tonight, so I could find where I'd typed “insert something pithy here.”

I'm going to bed. The rest of the proofread will wait until tomorrow.
