I have a very large batch of goulash going in the crockpot. We'll see how it ends up, though I'm hoping for tender and tasty (it's an awesome recipe, I've just never done it in the crock pot before).
[eta]: tender, tasty, thinner than normal (since it didn't simmer on the stove like normal). Since we mostly dip rolls into the goulash or eat it with mashed potatoes or dumplings, this was fine. We both ate our fill, and there's two 4-cup servings in the freezer. :)
Lucy the hamster has finally been transported from the old house (the weather this week had been preventing her relocation) and she is tucked into the guest room until we can get cat proof doors put on the cabinet she's going to live in. (She lived in the office in the old house, which we could close off when we were not home or sleeping, but the office cannot be conveniently closed off here).
We went to the farmer's market this morning, and acquired:
- lettuce
- ground beef
- strawberries
- cucumbers
- eggs
- sausage
- pepperoni
- bratwurst
and then went on to the co-op, where we got things you can't get at the farmer's market: organic potato chips, spices, TP, etc.
It's been a pretty productive day so far (even if I lost at Command & Conquer).
We're headed out to Cherokee for a couple of days at the beginning of the week for a bit of out-of-town vacation. We have a cabin reserved at the KOA. We're going to take a list of some touristy things to do, but the plan is to not feel bad if we end up spending the whole time by the pool with books.
We also plan on
So, stuff I need to do tonight or tomorrow to facilitate the eating:
