It's the first week of school (again - last week it was the high school kids, but that was online and just some grading and very low-key, so, no big deal), but this week was really the first week of school, the first week of classes that I teach, and first weeks always kick my ass anyhow, and there's been a ton of board stuff this week, so I've been doing my headless chicken imitation, hence the lack of posting, or tweeting with my normal volume, or IMing.

Very very tired, but it's not been a bad first week.

Anyhow, I need to put on shoes and get my butt out of here, because I have an 8:00 class, and yes, I really do need to leave by 7:15 at the latest for an 8:00 class, even though it's a 15 minute drive, if I'm going to walk in from wherever the hell I have to park and have time to ingest some more caffeine before I have to teach. I ended up leaving from the Y at 7:30 on Tuesday, and I had to jog to class and got there with about 2 minutes to spare. Nope, not again.

And then I get to head off to the wilds of Durham for adventure. Or at least pizza and science museum, which counts as adventure for me.

I'll come up for air again tomorrow.

Hi--you don't know me, but I'm "rotting my brain" (as I tell my kids) after a long day at school (I teach high school) and came across your journal, and just had to laugh at some of your descriptions (farther down). My school is only ten minutes from my house (eight if the lights go right), but my boys (both at my school) simply do not believe that we really do need to leave earlier than 7:50 to get there before school starts at 8:05. Someone always has to run back in for something, and then there is the whole issue of the parking lot, and threading your way through the packed commons, and I for one, would like at least a moment to gather my thoughts before the onslaught. I've only been actually after-the-bell late twice times though in twelve years. Once involved diarhea (one of the boys), and once involved going back for a backpack on a day that a major project was due. On one of those occasions, my colleague next door had unlocked my door, and when I went in, one of the boys from the class was sitting up front playing a guitar and singing!?!?

Hi! We like new folks around here. Pull up a chair and stay awhile. :)

Fortunately, the only high school folks I wrangle are online. You have my deepest admiration. :)
