Also, this is hardly an original thought, but until the anti-queer comes out of the Republican party platform1, Mr. McCain, I am not your friend.

It makes me sad to see people simplifying like this, since fer christ sake, being a Republican now has very little to do with what being a Republican then was all about.

And I know that not all Republicans are like that - I know and love lots of Republicans. :) So why isn't the party's more representative of the party's diversity?

Why? Well, because we have a representative government and a two party system. Evangelical Christians seem to be pretty fiesty when it comes to pushing the agenda. The squeeky wheel gets the grease. If every vote nuance counted, we'd instead have a multi party system where if one party got 20% of the vote, they'd have 20% representation in government.
