So, Copper was curled up at our feet this morning, snuggled into the fuzzy blanket, when she noticed that we were both awake. She stood up, wandered up to the top of the bed, turned around, carefully fit herself into the curve of my chest and arms, and laid down. Awww. :) We had some nice cuddles and pets (and Ellie came and sat still and let herself be petted for a full five minutes, which is unheard of) until Jeff's pager went off (his boss is on vacation this week, so he's on pager duty. Hey, at least it waited until 8:30 in the morning, and it wasn't anything he had to go in for). I'm a lucky woman.

The plan today is some targetted laziness with my honey, including video games and Star Trek, combined with some frantic housecleaning, followed by watching Generations with my cousin Andrew and possibly his cousin and Faith. Hope is coming over after she gets off work, and we're having pasta and garlic bread and salad and brownies and ice cream for dinner, and there will be board games. Again, I'm a lucky woman.

I may not always like my country, but I always, always love it. The current state of affairs may not currently be the way many of us would prefer them to be, but things will get better and the state of affairs will improve, and today is the best day I can think of to feel optimistic on that point. Happy Independence Day, folks. :)

In honor of today's events, my subconcious treated me to nightmares about failing classes all night. Stupid brain. :)

My independent study paper (27 pages of text, 2 of references, 9375 words) is turned in, four fracking days ahead of schedule. I rock. :)
