Snow! Again!

The weather folks were right, and we got our second snow of the year. There wasn't anything at 4:30 when I was up, so I was surprised to see this when I got up at 8:30. It's pretty, but the uni is closed, which puts a wrench in my plans for the day and means going into campus tomorrow to run errands, which I didn't want to do, so, feh.

It seems like such a small amount to close a University down... how much was there?

Right now, I'd say that we have half an inch, and the roads are clear, but we have a lot of students who commute, and out where my sister lives (about 15 minutes from here out in the country) she reports the roads are a lot worse.

I am impressed they closed school for the skim of snow. Tech is really bad about that - even when it is icy they stay open.

They didn't close for the last skim we got, but apparently there's freezing rain on the forecast for later. We had some kids killed last year when a local school system didn't shut down, so they might just be being overcautious.

I'm sorry, I know it's cruel, but I have to laugh. A half inch? We've had 67 inches of snow since December 20th. It has snowed every week for 7 weeks. And I still have to go to work and take the kids to school every day. And no, we're not "used to it". Normally it snows a couple of inches and melts the next day. I still have a 4 foot high plow drift in front of my driveway.

Wimps. ;.p

Having gotten that out of my system, I'm glad they closed school if it's going to be freezing rain. Better to be safe.

Freezing rain is the biggest problem with winter weather out here. If it were just snow, like last time, it wouldn't be an issue. But if it freezes over, it's going to get ugly... *shrugs*

It may have feh'd your plans, but it's pretty. Thanks for the pic.
