I've been thinking lately about how lucky I am. I have a full stomach and more groceries in the kitchen to feed me for the next week, a warm house to live in, books to read, a wonderful partner, two great kittens, and friends and family that love me. For the number of hours that I have to work a week, I'm well paid, and I'm on track to earn a reasonable living when I'm done with my masters. If something horrid were to befall me, I have a safety net in those friends and family. I'm a lucky, lucky girl. So, I have a small check ready to go out in the mail for the Share the Warmth people, and I think my Christmas present to myself is going to be a small donation to Doctors Without Borders each month. I should do some volunteering this spring, too; heck knows I have the time. I may not make a ton of money, but compared to most of the world, I'm rich, and there's no reason I can't share it around a bit. If we all did, there'd be a lot less need in the world.
