Yesterday, I was looking for sources for a paper that I have a rough draft of due Wednesday (argh) and there was a book listed in a couple of bibliographies that looked really useful, so I checked my school's library and saw that they had it, but that someone had it checked out until December 15th. We can recall books, whereupon they call the person with the book and ask them to bring it back, but I hate to do that to people, because I'd hate it if someone did that to me with a book that I needed. Then I noticed that it was available as an e-book, so, great, I didn't need to recall the book.
Guess what I just looked down and spotted on my office floor? Yeah, I'm the dork who already has the book checked out.
Oh, dear. I'm still laughing about this, several minutes later. Good thing you're so effecient, eh? You checked it out *ages* ago, because you knew you'd need it.
:)
