What is it about the perversity of human nature that, as soon as I "have" to read a book, even for something fun and voluntary like the book club that I started, I'll read anything else but that book? I finally picked up this month's book today, two days before the (extended) deadline, and if I read read read between now and Monday, I should even get it finished on time. It's utterly fantastic, and I wish I'd started it a month ago when I first got out of the library. I need to get over this whole not wanting to start "assigned" books thing.

I have the same problem, and I had the same experience with this month's book. I picked it up from the library and then set it aside for over a week, and then when I finally got around to reading it I had a really hard time putting it down, so much so that I went and *bought* the TPB so I could take it to school with me (the library copy was this massive and unwieldly hardback). I think this is another one I'm going to send to my mom and sister so they can read it, too (I sent them Time Traveler's Wife and they loved it).

I'm having the same problem. While I remember it was very good, I keep getting pulled away by 'oooh! shiny!' books...
