Last year was 70, so I'm up 16 more this year.

My book related new year's goals were to read one non-fiction book a month. I did well on that until the fall semester started. :)

My book related goals for this year are to each month read one non-fiction book, one book in translation, one book written before 1977, and one book written before 1900. I also want to read the Bible and the Holy Qur'an from cover to cover by the end of the year.

I'd be hard pressed to pick a favorite book from this year; I read quite a bit of really good stuff. I did love The Time Traveler's Wife, which I wouldn't have picked up except for the book club, and Lamb : the Gospel according to Biff, Christ's childhood pal, also due to the book club. I did find a couple of favorite authors; I continued to adore Margaret Maron, and I discovered Laurie R. King, who writes not one, but two, amazing mystery series. I'm also really, really, really enjoying the Thursday Next books by Jasper Fforde, and I picked back up the Anita Blake books after a long break. A lot of what I read this year was the continuation of series that I knew I liked. Which was perfectly fine, but I'd like to expand my horizons a bit more this year.
