first cure for whininess: going to bed before 10 and getting up at 730, and mostly sleeping in between. save for waking up from a nightmare around 4 and taking awhile to get back to sleep from it, i slept well. that was much needed.
second cure for whininess: pinging friends and making plans for the evening. yes, self, it really is that easy.
i'm feeling much better today. still tired, but not nearly as whiny as i was last night.
