what's the difference between slipping as if to knit and slipping as if to perl?

basically, you slip by [knitting or purling, whichever you're as-if-ing] simply without actually completing the stitch. If you're slipping to knit, you put the needle through front to back and down to up, and if you're slipping to purl, you put the needle through back to front and up to down. :)
