Did the tax laws change? (No, I haven't been watching the news. Yes, I suck.) My pay stub says that I'm getting an extra 37.76 on Thursday, and I haven't changed anything. Not that I'm complaining...

Yes. Instead of an extra refund check this year, it's coming as less in taxes on each check.

It's a trick to get us to spend our stimulus money instead of socking it all away in savings like many of us did last time.

I heard something about it on the radio yesterday. Something about employers changing your witholdings slightly. Unfortunately, I don't remember much beyond that.

The other thing is if you're paid bi-weekly, this month is a three-paycheck-month, so I get more on this one because there's no health insurance and life insurance pulled out of it.
